Abstract: Based on John ? F ? Siau’s unsteady-state transport theories, the mathematical models were established to simulate the heat transfer in Pinus massoniana lumber during press drying. After being steamed 3 hours at 100~C of dry bulb and 99.5℃ of wet bulb, i. e. 100~of relative humidity, then the P. massoniana lumber was pressed and dried at 180℃ platen temperature, with 0.2 MPa platen pressure and 60 s breath interval (the breath time is 1 s each time). The results showed that the models closely reflected the temperature change in P. massoniana lumber during press drying process, and the deviations between the measured and calculated temperature were 5% smaller except for a few values.
