Abstract: 【Objective】The purpose of this study is to standardize safety functions of city road landscaping, and to verify the reliability of vegetation effect on the traffic sight induction. 【Method】Based on the driver's visual characteristic analysis, two mathematical models were constructed based on a two-way, four-lane road as the basic linear model according to CJJ 37-2012(Urban Road Engineering Design Code). Model 1 is a straight section model which can form a continuous landscape at different design speeds. Model 2 is a curved section model with the best perception of the curvature at different design speeds. 【Results】On the straight road section, when the vehicle speed is 30, 40, 60, 80 and 100 km/h, the planting distance L is 1.74, 2.32, 3.48, 4.64, and 5.80 m, respectively, for the driver to view a continuous landscape. On the curved road section, when the vehicle speed is 40, 60, 80 and 100 km/h, the L' of the plant, i.e., the best perceived effect on the curvature of the road, is 2.49, 3.56, 4.25 and 0.44 m, respectively. 【Conclusion】On the straight section of city roads, the best effect can be achieved by planting plants at spacing L. On the curved section of the urban road, plants can be planted at the minimum spacing between L and L' at the same design speed to achieve the best effect while maintaining higher perception accuracy of curves.
